A Life of Caring for Others
I began my career in long-term care working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Supporting older adults and their families during important stages of life gave me a deep appreciation for how closely connected physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing truly are.
I remain a CNA today, and along with my husband I also help families navigate senior care decisions through our placement company, Sage Senior Care Advisors, which serves families throughout Kansas and Missouri. Our work focuses on helping families find the right long-term care setting for their loved ones when additional support is needed.
Working in the long-term care field for more than 30 years has given me a unique perspective on the importance of compassionate care and whole-person wellness.
Therapeutic Massage and Whole-Body Wellness
Over time, my interest in supporting people’s wellbeing led me toward therapeutic bodywork and energy-based healing practices.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist, my work focuses on supporting both physical wellness and nervous system balance.
Massage can help release patterns of tension, improve circulation, support mobility, and allow the body to experience deeper states of relaxation and restoration. When the body is given the right support, it often begins to move naturally toward balance.
My sessions may incorporate a variety of techniques including therapeutic massage, myofascial release, lymphatic support, cross-fiber friction, dynamic cupping, and hot or cold stone therapy. Each session is guided by what will most benefit the individual that day.
Intuitive Awareness
One of the aspects of bodywork that I find most fascinating is how the body communicates through patterns of tension, holding, and release.
Over time I have developed an intuitive awareness that helps guide my work during sessions. As the body begins to relax, it sometimes reveals areas where stress, physical strain, or emotional tension may be held.
These observations simply offer another way of listening to the body and allowing the session to unfold in a way that supports each person’s unique needs
Healing Touch
Part of my training includes Healing Touch, a well-established energy therapy developed by a registered nurse to work in conjunction with Western medicine.
After working in the long-term care industry for more than 30 years, it was important to me to study a modality that could complement many different belief systems and walks of life.
Healing Touch focuses on supporting the body’s natural healing processes and encouraging balance within the energy systems of the body. Many hospitals and healthcare settings incorporate Healing Touch as a supportive therapy alongside traditional medical care.
While this is only part of my work, it has been a fascinating and meaningful area of study that informs the way I approach each session.
My Approach
Every person’s body and life experience are different.
Rather than following a routine, each session is guided by what seems most helpful for the individual in that moment. Sometimes the focus is physical relief and mobility. Other times the body simply needs space to rest and reset.
I truly enjoy helping people reconnect with what their body and life may be asking for. Supporting people in finding what they need — physically, emotionally, or energetically — is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
In addition to my bodywork practice, I also serve as a board member for The Light Center in Baldwin City, Kansas, a nonprofit organization dedicated to personal growth, healing, and spiritual exploration.
